What Are Grocery Manufacturer's Association (GMA) Pallets?

​

Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) pallets have a standard footprint of 48” x 40" and are designed to facilitate the quick, safe, and simple storage, transportation, and distribution of food products within the grocery industry. Pallets are graded according to their condition, and the standardized sizing makes it easy for suppliers, distributors, manufacturers and logistics companies to locate pallets and transport goods

 

In addition to their standard footprint, GMA pallets are always four-way construction. Meaning a forklift or pallet jack and enter from all four sides for easy maneuvering. The minimum load-bearing capacity of 2,500 lbs. They can be built using stringer construction or block construction depending on user's specifications.

GMA pallets are manufactured according to the guidelines outlined by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), now known as the Consumer Brands Association (CBA). Since it's inception in the early 1900's GMA has served to provide guidance and standardization on pallet use has been influential in increasing efficient, safety, cost-effective distribution processes, storage, and delivery of food products across the country.
